August 28 - September 26 - Hawai`i Island Festival

Residents and visitors are invited to help sustain the festival by purchasing “Hawai’i Island Festival - 30 Days of Aloha” keepsake ribbons. The ribbons and a fee are required to attend the Ms. Aloha Nui, Poke and Falsetto contests. There is no charge for the Paniolo Parade & Ho’olaule’a. In the early years, the “Hawai’i Island Festival – 30 Days of Aloha” was a part of the statewide Aloha Festivals celebration, but in recent years has become a stand-alone Hawai’i Island celebration organized and supported by Big Island businesses and residents.

August 6 - 8 Hilo Orchid Society Show and Sale

This 58th annual show and sale is the largest orchid show in the State of Hawai‘i. It features elaborate orchid displays and installations; lectures on orchid culture, flower arranging, plant identification, and plant pests and diseases; and a sales area with orchid plants and orchid-related materials. August 14 - 15 - 17TH Anual Pistahan Parade and Festival - San Francisco, CA

Experience the best of Filipino art, dance, music and food at the 17th Annual Pistahan Parade and Festival on at the Yerba Buena Gardens. Pistahan Parade and Festival is the largest celebration of Filipino Americans in San Francisco includes cultural exhibits and the 3rd annual San Francisco Filipino American Jazz Festival. The parade will begin at Beale Street. The two-day event is expected to draw over 50,000 people. Both days will feature an array of entertainment, exhibits, and immersive cultural opportunities.

September 5 - Ho‘olaule‘a O Honu‘apo: Mālama Ka‘ū

Celebrate with song and story, slack-key, silent auction and more, Sunday, September 5 at “Ho‘olaule‘a at Honu‘apo: Mālama Ka‘ū," 10am-5pm at Honu‘apo Park (Whittington Beach Park area). A fundraiser for Ka 'Ohana O Honu‘apo, caretakers of this historic and culturally significant site, the free, multi-generational festivities are open to everyone, with great food, music, hula, ‘olelo (storytelling), Hawaiian culture activities and more, including a special appearance by celebrated Hawaiian musician Cyril Pahinui. September 17 - 19 Colorado Aloha Fest Boulder, CO

The Colorado Aloha Festival is a cultural celebration of Hawaii in Boulder. Events include a concert featuring some of Hawaii’s top performers, Hawaiian art and food vendor booths, free Hawaiian music and hula performances.

The Aloha Festival is run by Halau Hula o na Mauna Pohaku, an all-volunteer, nonprofit hula halau (school) dedicated to preserving the Hawaiian culture in Colorado. Many people generously donate time and talent to make this community event possible. More info >

September 19 - Peace Day Parade and Festival - Honoka`a

Downtown Honokaa joins the United Nations International Day of Peace for the 4th Annual “Peace Day” Parade & Festival. Stepping off at 11:00 a.m. from Honokaa High School, the Parade is a “moving stage” of marching bands, colorful floats, acrobats, performance artists and international dancers.
